Doctor Converts 'Family House' to Hospital, Donates it to Communities in Osun

A senior registrar in the department of community medicine, Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital, Ado Ekiti, Dr. Olumuyiwa Oluyide had on Saturday donated his family house after giving it a new face as an hospital to his community in Imoro, Osun State.


The hostipal which was commissioned by the former governor of Osun State, Otunba Erelu Olushola Obada attracted many residents to enjoy the benefits from the health care delivery project.

In the address of Otunba Erelu Olushola, she lauded the action of Dr. Oluyide for deeming it fit to give his society what he think they need most at the time.

She said, "What Dr. Oluyide has demonstrated to these communities is a sign that he has respect for his profession and he is concern about the well being of the people where he was born".


In the remark of Olumoro of Imoro Ijesha, Oba Anthony Onaolapo, he expressed gratitude toward the gesture of Dr. Olumuyiwa Oluyide to Imoro community which will serve other neighbouring villages.


He said, "I was amazed with the decision of Dr. Oluyide to turn his family house to hospital which he donated to this Imoro Community".


" I am delighted because he has laid a good foundation for others and it will turnout to be a great blessing for him and the communities".


"Many individuals who has this privilege would opined that; coming to this rural community to spend huge amount of money on project like this is only a waste but against all odds he has given the society what is most needed at this time.


" I want to admonish all other indigene of this community to emulate this kind of example by coming home to give back to the society that has produced them."


Dr. Oluyide while addressing our correspondent after the commissioning, he explained that, his passion for community medicine has motivated him to convert his family house to hospital for the entire community.

"I decided to turn the place to a refuge for the people instead for the structure to rot away without adding any value to ourselves and the communities. The legacy of my father will be further strengthened because I named it after his name;  'Pa Jacob Oluyide Health Post, Imoro'.


"With my training and practice for over 8years I have seen reasons why we must bring health to the door step of our people which led to conversion of the family house to healthcare post."


The facility will serve 5 communities for the advantage of the people of these communities to have access to quantitative and qualitative health.

He identified Ilotin, Odo Oko, Isale,Oke Ese and Ibodi  as part of communities to enjoy the facility alongside Imoro.
