NYSC DG Warns Osun Corps Members Against Inducement

 The Director-General of National Youth Service Corps, Brig-Gen. Suleiman Kazaure on Tuesday warned corps members serving in Osun to remain neutral and non-partisan when engaged as ad-hoc staff for the state governorship election.

Kazaure also added that they must not give in to any inducement by any politician throughout the election period.

He made this call while addressing corps members during his courtesy visit to the NYSC permanent orientation camp in Ede, Osun State.

He warned the corps members not to collect anything from politicians or be induced by politicians to commit electoral malpractice, stressing that anybody caught would be left to face the wrath of the law.

"The Osun election is around the corner and some of you will be used as INEC ad-hoc staff.

"When you are engaged for the election, you must be neutral, non-partisan and not take anything or financial materials from politicians.

"Any corps member caught for electoral malpractice would be handed over to the law enforcement authorities." he said

State Coordinator of Osun NYSC, Mr  Emmanuel Attah,  lauded the DG for his compassion towards corp members in Osun State.

Attah highlighted what he and his staff had being doing to make life better for the corps members in the camp and how they had been more focused on the welfare and health care of the corps members.

He however said 198 corps members were relocated from the 2010 corps members, registered for the Batch B stream II NYSC orientation programme,  for better health care and treatment at home.

He said 48 out of the figure of those redeployed were relocated on marital grounds while the remaining 150 were relocated on  health grounds.

Attah  said the NYSC in the state was concerned about the well-being of the corps and so, at the point of their registration, after they presented their certificates of fitness, a re-screening was carried out on them.

“We decided to take a unique step by employing serving NYSC medical doctors alongside medical lab scientists, pharmacists and nurses, and they carry out thorough screening on the corps members.

“Because we have a lab, we discovered so many cases of high blood pressure, tuberculosis and some other terrible bad health issues and so we had to relocated those with poor health back for proper parental care." he said
