Osun Decide: I never prayed for PDP's failure, Adeleke is only Arrogant- Ogunbiyi

Runner-up of Osun Peoples Democratic Party's primary election, Dr. Akin Ogunbiyi has slammed the governorship candidate of the Party, Sen. Ademola Adeleke over his comment of negotiating terms with Aregbesola and non PDP member.

The message of Dr. Ogunbiyi was contained in a release made available to our correspondent in Osogbo by his Press secretary,  Comrade Ismail Afolabi on Tuesday.

The release which was titled; "Reconciliation: Be Honourable in the interest of PDP", read:

Dr. Akin Ogunbiyi, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party in Osun State has called on the governorship candidate of the party, Senator Ademola Adeleke to be honourable and upright so as not to completely jeopardise the chances of the party at the forthcoming election in the state.

Reacting to what he described as a dishonourable and fallacious statement from Adeleke's campaign office.

In the interest of the PDP, one would not have responded to the indecorous utterances from Senator Ademola's campaign office and hope that the governorship candidate and his team will learn to be honourable over time, if they had simply stopped at their extreme enmity and not resorted to telling serial lies against Dr. Ogunbiyi.

It is not unknown to the great people of Osun and of course, the PDP faithful that Dr. Ogunbiyi actually won the July 21st primary election of the party but Senator Ademola dubiously clinched the gubernatorial ticket through manipulation. And since then, the Senator and some of his followers have been calling for the head of Ogunbiyi.

Already, it is almost seven weeks after the party primaries and Ademola's camp has infamously remained hell bent at bringing Ogunbiyi to his knees for no just course after all Ogunbiyi is not their opponent at coming election.

This said, the dishonourable statement credited to the campaign office of Senator Ademola doesn't come as a surprise, as they have resorted to all forms of lies and blackmail to cover up the dismal reactions on their poorly coordinated outings.

Recall, after the primaries, the national leadership of the party, led by Prince Uche Secondous, the respected PDP national chairman and his executives had brokered peace between Ademola and Ogunbiyi wherein they ceded the deputy governorship position to Ogunbiyi's camp, among other things. But today, everyone knows that it is the Adelekes, not Ogunbiyi that floated the pact.

Furthermore, contrary to the skewed claim by Senator Adeleke's campaign office, Dr. Ogunbiyi is accessible to all and on collision course with none. As a core party man and peace loving person, shortly after the controversial primaries, he publicly declared that he has nothing against the Adelekes and expressed willingness to work for the party.

The claims that Senator Ademola made several attempts to get appointment to meet Dr Akin Ogunbiyi is totally false. At no time did Ogunbiyi ever advise Dr Deji Adeleke to go and meet his people. In fact, under a normal circumstances, it would have been gentlemanly on the Adelekes' part to insist on meeting with Dr Ogunbiyi before meeting with his people.

So, the false claim was an ill-thought justification for the divide and rule ploy that the Adelekes' camp had opted for, which unfortunately has not yielded the desired outcomes for them.

It is on record that some leaders of the party including Baba Shuaib Oyedokun, Hon. Segun Odekunmi, Baba Oyelayo Laoye, Alhaji Gani Olaoluwa and host of others converged at Ogunbiyi's residence at Ile Ogbo in anticipation of a proposed visit of Dr. Deji Adeleke-led Ademola's team in order to facilitate a reconciliatory meeting on Sunday. The leaders went away in disappointment.

Factually, Dr Akin Ogunbiyi has played host to various interest groups in the state towards the enthronement of good governance come September 22. But, it is rather myopic and tactless for Adeleke campaignorganization to accuse him of meeting with non PDP groups. That the Senator's campaign team also accused people in Ogunbiyi's camp of negotiating with another party, is really laughable.

As a selfless and futuristic team, it is worth noting that neither Ogunbiyi nor his camp prays for failure of the party at the September 22 governorship election. Consequently, the Senator's campaign office, since it appears to be totally bereft of innovative ideas, is further advised to device strategic plans to deal with the anxiety that has gripped the camp over the party members' lukewarm attitude towards the campaign.

We also advise the Adeleke's campaign team to focus on issues that will promote unity and victory of the party at the polls. They should drop their arrogance and stop chasing shadows.
