Buhari, Atiku, Others Sign 2019 National Peace Accord, Advocate for Peaceful Election

Presidential candidate of All Progressives Congress,  Muhammadu Buhari,  Peoples Democratic Party candidate,  Alh. Atiku Abubakar and others have signed 2019 National Peace Accord ahead Saturday poll.

All the presidential candidates signed the peace accord which was witnessed by the National Peace Committee Chairman,  Alh Abdulsalaam Abubakar in Abuja on Wednesday morning.


All Progressives Congress candidate,  President Muhammadu Buhari while addressing stakeholders at the meeting said,  "We are witnessing an exciting development in the area of engagement of our youth in democratic process which was evident past years.

He noted that the number of political parties and emergence of unprecedented women and young people in politics is a pointer to development of Nigeria democracy.


According to him,  "I call on all Nigerians to contribute to the building of politics by active participation when they are casting their vote. Elections by themselves do not constitute democracy,  it is the spirit of citizenship,  engagement that utilise the towards attainment of good governance.

"We are here to mark the final phase of our campaign and we are now at the door step of our elections. The campaign so far go well and we thank God for that."

He noted that,  "I want to admonish all of us to go out and exercise our civic duties on election day. We,  representation candidate are here to sign and commit ourselves to success of the elections. I appeal to my fellow contestant to commit to the ideal so as to keep our people safe.

The Independent Electoral Commission,  our electoral umpire has already assured us that they have don't everything possible to ensure free and fair elections. He concluded.


After the signing,  in his remark,  candidate of Peoples Democratic Party ,  Alh. Atiku Abubakar commended the organizer of the 2019 National peace accord.

Atiku pleaded with President Mohammadu Buhari to make good use of his office to deliver credible election.

He said,  "I want to appeal to President Mohammadu Buhari to use his good office to ensure that every eligible person who cast their vote are confident in the process and in the believe that their vote will count.

Every candidate must remember that these election is about the future of Nigeria, therefore we must abide by the will of the people as freely expressed through elections an in terms of out constitution in our electoral laws.

He appealed to electorate to go out in mass to cast their vote for the candidate of their choice.

I appealed to citizens to go out in mass to cast their vote to the candidate of their choice and to be peaceful during the election process. He added.
