Osun Police Arraign Teenagers, Others for Attempted Murder

The Police on Thursday arraigned teenagers and two others for attempted murder  before Osun State Magistrate,  Osogbo

The four accused persons, Ahmed Toyib(18-years old), Mudashiru Tate (19-years old)  Adeshina Abdulazeez(25years old) and Aliyu Mayowa(20years old)  were arraigned on six count charge bothering on conspiracy,  attempted murder and cultism.

The police prosecutor,  Inspector Elisha Olusegun told the court that,  "Adeshina Abdulazeez,  Mudashiru Taye,  Aliu Mayowa and others now at large,  on the 1st of day of February,  2019 at about 1445hrs at Okuku in the Okuku Magisterial district sitting in Osogbo did conspire among yourselves to commit felony to wit: attempted murder, going armed,  being a member of unlawful possession and conduct likely to cause breach of peace.

"They and other now at large did unlawfully attempted to kill one Okeniyi Adedayo Abiodun by inflicting machete cuts on his hand and body.

"Did engage yourselves in unlawful society named Eiye confraternity secret cult.

Inspector Elisha said the offences contravene section 516,  320(1),  80,  64 and 249(D) of the criminal code cap 34 Vol. II laws of Osun State of Nigeria 2002.

The four accused persons pleaded not guilty to all the count charge.

The counsel of the first accused person, Mr Abdulsalaam Abdulfatai applied for bail of his client.

He said,  "I apply for the bail of the accused. The accused is presumably innocent by law until contrary is proven. I pray the court to grant the accused person bail. They have reliable sureties and they will themselves available for trial. I plead with court to grant the bail on the most liberal term."

He noted that the accused person won't jump bail if granted.

The police prosecutor,  Inspector Elisha Olusegun objected the bail application of the defense counsel.

He said,  "We are objecting the application of the two counsel. If granted bail the accused persons will commit similar offence. Looking at the charge in which they are all charged — with the season we are,  politicians can use them to disrupt election process.

The Magistrate,  Mrs. Rofiat Olayemi in her ruling granted the for accused person to bail.

She said,  " The offences of the four accused persons are bailable. Bail is hereby granted to the four accused persons in the sum of N20, 000 with a reliable surety. The surety should be the father or blood relation of the accused.

Magistrate Olayemi adjourned the case to   19th March 2019 and transferred the case to Okuku magistrate court for mention.
